We hope that you had a lovely Christmas break. Last year we felt a real sense of growing community cohesion. The resident’s group is getting bigger, with more people participating than we can remember!
Our work with our partners Groundworks and the Making Melville Marvellous project is bringing positive change. Things like the mural, community events and the progress on Household Management Orders are all positive developments.
We begin 2023 with more positive developments. New CCTV for our area is being rolled out thanks to the Making Melville Marvellous project and the Safer Streets fund. This, combined with the newly recruited police officers and new police base at Castle Circus, is a huge boost in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.
Given developments last year, we are optimistic we will see further progress on long-standing issues such as the Old Laundry Site.
Despite the above, there’s no escaping the cost-of-living crisis, long GP waiting times and dentistry access. Whilst some of these things are not in our formal remit, we will always lobby those responsible for fixing these issues. The council has a directory of the help available for those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
We are on hand to help with issues big and small. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
