There are just a few weeks left to declare your interest in standing as a candidate in this May’s local elections.
Along with other councils throughout the country, Torbay voters will go to the polls on
Thursday 4 May.
People of all ages, backgrounds and experiences who reflect the communities they
serve are needed to put themselves forward for election. Being a councillor allows you to make a difference and help shape the future of the local community.
You don’t need special qualifications. Skills gained through work, raising a family, caring for relatives, volunteering or being active in the community or faith groups are highly valuable.
Support, information and training is provided for new councillors, and ongoing training is available for councillors of all levels.
Potential candidates have until Tuesday 4 April to register to stand at the May elections.
More information about becoming a councillor can be found on Torbay Council’s website, where you can watch a film showing councillors talking about why they decided to stand for election and get the answers to some frequently asked questions.
