Welcome to our blog!

We’ve created this blog to update you on the latest happenings in the community, share ideas, and even some delicious recipes from our residents. (Much requested!)
But In this first post, we wanted to give you a peek into what’s been happening in the area lately, including our recent street party and the Melville Placemaking Project.
First, let’s talk about the street party on Melville Street to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
Despite the rain and grey skies, the event was a success, with food provided by the Melville Community Group and an opportunity to catch up with neighbours, meet new faces, and show our community spirit.
If you missed the party, don’t worry – more events are coming up soon!
Check the Events calendar for details on our next event, Summer BBQ, Sat July 17th.
Have you noticed some new planters popping up along Melville Street and Warren Road?

If you’re unfamiliar with the Melville Placemaking Project, it’s a collaborative effort between Groundworks, a local landscape architect, locals from the area, public services, and Torbay Council to re-design the streetscape in the Melville and Warren Road area.
The project aims to create a more vibrant and inviting neighbourhood, and the planters are just the beginning. Keep an eye out for more exciting changes to come.
If you don’t want to miss out on bringing your ideas to the table, attend our monthly meetings to simply learn more about what’s happening.
As much as there are many amazing things taking place, there can also be unpleasant sides to our community life, and so a gentle reminder that if you are concerned by any behaviour where you live, please use the Melville reporting portal because together, our voices are stronger.
Finally, we wanted to touch on the importance of community involvement and events.

In today’s busy and often disconnected world, it can be easy to forget the value of coming together as a community. But events like our street party and upcoming Summer BBQ show that it’s possible to build a strong and supportive neighbourhood where people care about each other.
Getting involved in projects like the Melville Placemaking Project, contributing to community events, or even just saying hello to your neighbours help build that sense of community and makes our area a better place to live.
We hope you enjoyed this first blog post and that it gave you a glimpse into some of the exciting things happening in our community.
If you have an idea for a blog post or a recipe you’d like to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Together, we can continue to build a vibrant and supportive neighbourhood that we’re proud to call home.
Save the date: Saturday, July 17th – SUMMER BBQ.
