Services include –
- Free Wi-Fi.
- Free access to computers and scanners.
- Photocopying and printing facilities.
- Printing, copying and scanning facilities
- Free or affordable events for all ages such as Bounce and Rhyme, Babble and Brew and author events.
- A self-service Local History Room with local studies books, maps, historic artefacts and copies of the Herald Express going back a whole Century. (Please book before travelling).
- Computer Buddies for PC support. (Please book in advance).
- Local History and Ancestry Groups. Free access to Ancestry.
- Rooms for hire at reasonable prices.
- Daily and weekly newspapers.
IS A LIFELINE THIS WINTER
Torquay Library offers so much more than books this winter. A warm, welcoming
space with free Wi-Fi and computer access, people to chat with, groups and activities.
We know it will be a tough winter with the cost-of-living crisis and rising
heating bills. So, libraries are launching a ‘Libraries for Life’ campaign to remind
everyone that they’re not just about books!
As well as being great warm spaces to sit, study and read, there are groups
ranging from Bounce & Rhyme for babies and toddlers to Teddy Tales &
Lego Club. Adults can join local history groups, look up ancestors on Ancestry
and enjoy free happiness events. Torquay Library hosts craft afternoons,
author talks, and Babble & Brew (free refreshments). Libraries have free
colouring, jigsaw puzzles and board games at the library.
If you need help navigating your way around a computer, there’s free IT help.
Our Reading Well titles are a range of books covering physical and mental
health, including titles aimed at children and teens. And don’t forget if you’re
housebound or struggling to get to the library, our Home delivery service can
deliver books and a friendly chat too!
Our community fridges mean you can help yourself to free food donated by the
community and local businesses, no questions asked.\
Our free coat rails have been running for several years and will again offer a chance
to donate and take a warm winter coat.
We even have a SAD lamp to read next to and plenty of Cosy Crime books!
