Whenever the library is open, the fun is too! Our Stay & Play area is always changing, always surprising, and always free. Drop in anytime for new activities, imaginative play, and plenty to explore. No booking needed—just turn up and enjoy.
🎶 Bounce & Rhyme
Every Wednesday (term time), 11:00–11:45am. Bring your little ones for a joyful session of singing, bouncing, and musical play. It’s a brilliant way to meet other parents and help your baby develop early language skills—all while having a great time. Free event – please book up to 6 days in advance via phone or email.
🎨 Saturday Club
Every Saturday, 2:30–3:30pm, Looking for something fun, free, and creative? Saturday Club has you covered! Join us for crafts, activities, and a friendly space for children to explore. No booking needed. And remember—every day is a great day to enjoy the library’s treasures: books galore, puzzles, board games, sensory play, the storytelling chair, Stay & Play, and plenty more. Grown‑ups are welcome to relax and join the fun too.

Purls of Wisdom Knitting Group:
Every Monday, 2–3pm Join our friendly weekly knitting group for a cosy hour of creativity and conversation. Whether you’re picking up needles for the first time or you’re an experienced knitter, you’ll find a warm welcome. Bring your current project or start something new. All ages and skill levels welcome. Free event — no booking required.
Family History Surgery:
Wednesday 6 May, 10am–12 noon Our monthly Family History Surgery is the perfect place to get expert help with your research. Local specialists will guide you through family history resources, including the Ancestry website — available free on all Torbay Library computers. Please book in advance by phone or email. Free event with complimentary refreshments.
Torquay Book Club:
Friday 8 May, 10:30–11:30am A book group with a twist! Each month, the club chooses a theme, and members select their own book to read. Come along to share your thoughts in a relaxed, friendly setting. A themed display is available each month to help you choose. Free event — just drop in and get comfy.
Local History Group:
Saturday 16 May, 10am–12 noon Discover the rich heritage of Torbay with our lively Local History Group. Explore the John Pike Room resources, chat with local history enthusiasts, and get help with your own research projects. The group also organises occasional visits to places of local interest.
