Free Local Support to Quit Smoking and Build Healthier Habits

In this video, Your Health Torbay explains how their free, local services support people to quit smoking and improve overall health and wellbeing.

This video was recorded from our week 1 session, which introduced Your Health Torbay’s 12-week stop smoking programme offering one-to-one support, regulated nicotine replacement options and, where appropriate, medication prescribed through a GP. With the right support in place, it’s been proven that people are more likely to quit successfully than trying to do it alone.

Your Health Torbay also shared more about their healthy living and weight management support, which focuses on education rather than restrictive diets. Through a 12-week programme, participants explore nutrition, movement, habits and lifestyle changes that support long-term health, with optional follow-up support available to help you stay on track.

One of the encouraging moments from the programme came from a regular attendee who was not yet ready to fully quit, but still managed to cut down significantly. This was reflected in a noticeable reduction in her carbon dioxide readings, which became a really motivating reminder that every positive step counts.

The video highlights a practical, compassionate approach that meets people where they are, supporting both smoking cessation and healthier lifestyle changes at a pace that feels manageable.

This session was part of the Melville Communities Smoking Cessation and Healthy Living Programme, funded by Torbay Council’s Smoking Cessation Group.
